Drain Chamber of Commerce

Gateway to the Pacific

Drain is a historic northwest timber community first settled in 1847.  The city was incorporated in 1888, with Mr. John Drain being the first mayor.  Drain is centrally located between Roseburg and Eugene approx. 6 miles west off of Interstate 5 on Hwy 99.   Drain is also the "GATEWAY TO THE PACIFIC" ocean and the Umpqua River on lovely Highway 38.

Drain offers those that live here a more relaxed pace while offering ample community activities to keep life interesting. We are fortunate enough to be the hub of some of the greatest outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, fishing, camping, hunting or just taking drives enjoying our lovely outdoors.

Come visit us during our North Douglas County Fair, our annual City Wide Yard Sale, our yearly Christmas Party & Tree Lighting or any of our other community events.  While here drive through our town, stop and shop at our many local businesses, visit our city park & pool (the pool is open during the summer), photograph our "Castle" and walk through our Covered Bridge or just come to relax and unwind.

Affordable housing, smaller class sizes, low tax rates in Douglas County and a low cost of living make Drain one of the most desirable communities in Oregon.  With a stable population of 1,100 over the past 60 years, a rural lifestyle awaits you.  The University of Oregon, shopping malls and urban events are less than an hour away.
